This violin is inspired by the celebrated “Le Violon du Diable” by Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù, one of the most fascinating models of the Cremonese tradition. The outline reflects the typical character of Guarneri’s mature instruments: bold lines, vigorous proportions, and a strong personality, far removed from the pursuit of geometric perfection. The arching and the design of the f-holes contribute to an energetic and immediately recognizable appearance. For the back, ribs, and neck, I use selected European maple, combined with spruce from Val di Fiemme for the top. The varnishing is carried out entirely by hand using an amber-based oil varnish, applied over a wood preparation developed to enhance depth and transparency. From an acoustic perspective, the Violon du Diable model offers a rich, deep, and powerful sound, with good projection and a quick response under the bow, while maintaining a broad and versatile tonal palette. Each instrument is entirely handmade in my workshop, interpreting the historical model not as a copy, but as a search for its own distinctive tonal and aesthetic identity.
