Violin mod. Testore

Violino04_Riccio_Bassa

This violin is inspired by Carlo Giuseppe Testore, a maker of the Milanese school active between the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The model has a spontaneous and vigorous character, with shapes and details deliberately free from geometric perfection, reflecting Testore’s direct and highly personal style. The incised purfling on the back recalls a distinctive feature of his work. The back, ribs, and neck are made from selected European maple, while the top is made from spruce from Val di Fiemme. The amber-based oil varnish is applied by hand over a ground developed to enhance depth and transparency. The sound is direct, open, and responsive, with good projection and great immediacy. Each instrument is entirely handmade, preserving the free and energetic spirit of the original model.
